Critics' Concensus

Overview

A featherweight, non-plated do-it-all daily trainer built on a single slab of Lightstrike Pro (classic) foam. It borrows the early rocker geometry from Adidas’ race line, adds a simple engineered-mesh upper and Continental rubber coverage. One of the best-reviewed daily trainers of 2025.

The Ride

Springy and lively with that classic LS Pro feel. It wakes up at uptempo/threshold and rolls smoothly off the early rocker; even a viable option for racing on a budget. At truly easy paces the soft, flexible, un-plated platform can feel a touch wobbly/muddled, and it tends to pull you faster than planned. Foam resilience stays strong deep into runs; outsole grip is confident though rubber is thin.

Fit & Feel

True-to-size works for most; performance fitters may prefer ½-size down to reduce forefoot volume and tighten lockdown. Upper is minimal and very breathable with light heel padding; short, non-gusseted tongue and skinny laces need a bit of fiddling. Lockdown is good, not “race-shoe tight.” Overall comfort is high, but this is not a stable shoe. It should also be noted that one reviewer (Sagasu Running) has pointed out in subsequent videos on his Youtube channel the inconsistent sizing of the Evo SL. Try on before buying, if possible.

✓ Pros

  • Full-length Lightstrike Pro (classic) at a budget-friendly price
  • Fun, springy, fast at tempo/threshold
  • Budget race-day option for those prioritizing comfort and value over carbon-plated race performance
  • Very light for a trainer; smooth, early rocker transition
  • Continental rubber grips well in varied conditions
  • Foam feel stays resilient late in sessions
  • Breathable upper; quick on-foot “disappears under you” vibe

✗ Cons

  • Less stable at easy pace; can feel wobbly for pronators
  • Short, non-gusseted tongue; needs care to lay flat
  • Skinny/cheap-feel laces; some may want to swap
  • Thin outsole rubber vs. Adizero Boston-level durability
  • Can drag you too fast on recovery days

Bottom Line

Best for: Neutral runners wanting a non-plated do-it-all daily trainer that’s light and lively.

Consider alternatives if: You need stability in your trainer.
